How Rust crash gambling works

Every crash round follows the same loop. Players place bets during a short betting window, usually 5–10 seconds. The round starts and a multiplier begins rising from 1.00x, slowly at first, then faster. At a predetermined point, the round “crashes”. Anyone who cashed out before the crash gets their bet multiplied by the value at the moment they clicked; anyone still in loses everything they wagered on that round.

The detail that matters: the crash point is decided before the round starts. It is generated from a hashed server seed (more on that below), not from player behavior during the round. The rising graph is animation, not physics. EV = (probability of reaching m) × (payout) = ((1 − 0.05)/m) × ($10 × m) = $9.50. The m cancels out. Every multiplier target returns the same $9.50 per $10 wagered.

What changes between 1.20x and 2.00x is variance, not expectation. Cashing at 1.20x wins often and loses your stake rarely, but each loss wipes out five wins’ worth of profit. Cashing at 20.00x loses 95 rounds in 100 and occasionally pays big. Both bleed the same 5% on average. The martingale trap, debunked with math

More often than intuition says. The chance of losing 10 consecutive rounds is 0.525^10 ≈ 1.6%.
